With this site I get to see how many people have visited my lowly little blog. Well, it was a lot over a weekend. I received a good comment on there too. On this island if something is controversial, it means that there is good readership or listenership in this case. I guess that this is how the popular media works. All kind of new to me, but it makes sense. Let me be clear I dont intend to write this blog for the sake of ‘hits’ and reaction from others. I write this blog for personal enjoyment, as an insight to certain industries on this island (more so restaurants apparently) and to open up a forum for opinion. I was happy to get feedback on the last post, all be it one.
I do know though that many of you forwarded this blog to others (the site tells me) so it must have struck a good or a bad chord with many out there. Point is – thats good. The blog achieved what it is trying to do. Let’s embrace it, not for my sake – but for everyone else. Let’s call a spade a spade. Cayman News Service sends out it’s daily update of news. Very easy. All they are acheiving is traffic for numbers / for advertising exposure / for repeat business / for advertising revenue. It is very cheap for them as well. The comments on the news stories go from the intelligent to the ridiculous. People getting on and off the horse as quick as they click on the next story about Goverment corruption, missing teenagers and prison escapees. But we cannot help but read them right?
I got up this morning and put the radio on. Most of the island are off work this morning and maybe won’t be as quick to slope out of bed. Many of the stations ARE culprits as far as I can tell. I know listenership is down on holiday Monday’s and weekends, but I think a lot of the radio stations are prerecorded today!
