Mongolian BBQ

Seven Mile Shops has seen the coming and the going of many bars and restaurants over the years. Remember the times of the West Bay Polo Club. I remember watching the Hollyfield and Tyson fight in there and you could not find space to stand, let alone sit.

There was definitely a place to sit at the Little Tokyo when I visited it. It was quiet. However, I was really surprised how many people came and went into this hole in the wall establishment and were in and out in 30 minutes or so as well.
This place was good. The pleasant waitress took our order; explained what to do with the crayon (yes – the Crayon) if we wanted to; or to order off of the regular menu. The skillets are the main thing to go for here. Freshly cooked on the Mongolian BBQ you can see your food come to life if you so desire. Herbs, spices, fresh rice, noodles. Finally, an Asian infused eatery that may just try to be rid of the pomp that Asian eateries don’t really have in the first place. There are few frills to this place. There is a stage, they have karaoke at the weekends – they don’t even have a good selection of wine. It doesn’t matter. Asian food is back and we appreciate it. The cute 2-man booths and the TV on the National Geographic Channel makes for it’s own unique atmosphere. The audacity of the waitress to try to upsell me! Fair play to her.
When the food came it was sizzling hot! Good fresh rice and noodles. Tender chicken ( a rarity in the Cayman Islands of late); crunchy vegetables what else do you want? I got exactly what I want because I used the Crayon. You pick exactly how you want the skillet. It is not determined for you. Sometimes a detailed choice is good.

So, the Tokyo Grill wins. Take out food was occurring as well – something to put into the memory bank on that drive home.
