Reviewing all of Cayman

Reviewing everything in the Cayman Islands for you

Cayman Drivers December 5, 2008

3621715Road signs are even spelt wrong. You should have a closer look at it.

I understand the speed limits and the reasons behind them in certain zones on this island.
I also understand the need to do so on such a quaint island that doesnt want to be dealing with the speed of high powered cars etc etc…

HOWEVER…

The RCIP must be given the right to also ‘light up’ drivers who are driving at 15mph in busy areas and either get them off the road or give them a warnign regarding thier conduct. Text messaging when driving is dangerous, I have even been known to do it. the frustration for everyone else is that most slow right down and are oblivious to their surroundings for those few moments. I can guarantee that there is a direct correlation between speed and talking/typing on the phone. FACT (Almost).

There will be those that will argue – well there is no accident going to happen when driving at 15mph. I disgaree. When driving at such slow speeds it is NATURAL reaction that others on the road will want to overtake said snail and get to their destination at some point that morning. On such roads, the windy, hidden corners that Cayman offers, an overtake / tail riding may result in an issue bigger than higher powered cars that certain sectors of the population prefer.
Food for thought. Get a headset or get off the phone.

As a footnote – please indicate when taking a corner Cayman. Please.
